1 Swartsfager, Vern Bell Ringers, The
New York Macmillan 1948 No ISBN First Edition Hard Cover Very Good Good Signed by Author
212pp; This is the true story of a revolution that occurred at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Dallas. It all began when, in the middle of the night, the great Cathedral bell mysteriously started to ring. The Padre dashed out and caught a boy tugging away at the bell rope to call his gang together. Father Swartsfager called all the boys into the rectory and discovered that this was a gang of young hoodlums who were terrorizing the neighborhood - stealing, bombing, smashing windows. With some straight-from-the-shoulder talke, he convinced the boys that crime is the coward's way. This book shows the transformation of these boys into a group doing tremendous good works, and Father Swartsfager's life as the Padre of Kids' World; Cover is in great condition, with no significant flaws; Pages are yellowed, but are tight and clean; Very nice personal inscription from the author on the dedication page, thanking the book's owners for their inspiration and support, dated 7/7/48; DJ is fading, and has some tears along the edges; The front inside flap is clipped (as if price clipped), but the original price is still intact on the flap, so I'm not sure why the corners were taken off; Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 pound. Category: Biography & Autobiography; Signed by Author. Inventory No: 101964. Hardcover
Price: 33.25 USD
