1 Davis, Ellis A.; Grobe, Edwin H. Encyclopedia of Texas ,The (2 Volume set)
Dallas, TX Texas Development Bureau No date No ISBN First Edition Full-Leather Fair No Dust Jacket
871pp + index; No publication date given, but it is most likely from 1922; This is a hard-to-find copy of the original "Encyclopedia of Texas". It was republished later in the 1920's as the "New Encyclopedia of Texas", but this is the original without the New moniker; This book covers in detail, the history, the resources, and the industries of Texas. There are many articles, illustrations, facts, and maps about Texas in that day. Then, there is a very large section pertaining to the "Men of Texas", which describes many of the prominent men of Texas throughout its history. Many photographs are included; Black leather boards with white, green, and gilt decorations; The covers of both volumes are in G - VG condition, but do show some signs of wear. Volume II's back cover is "wavy" along the edge due to some water damage; The historical pages remain white, but the biographical pages are yellowed; Many of the pages are in very good condition, but there is occasional damage throughout. This includes about 4 pages with holes (most likely insect damage), some wrinkled pages, and just under 100 pages at the end of volume II with water stains. I also found one photograph that is torn in half; This set is very heavy and may require additional shipping charges; Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: over 6 pounds. Category: Biography & Autobiography; Inventory No: 101446. Additional shipping charges may apply.. Hardcover
